Ten 1st Place Finishes For Track Saturday

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois split its track squad on Saturday sending one group of athletes to compete at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays while another group was in action at the Illinois Twilight Meet. The Panthers turned in ten first place finishes between the two meets with another six silver medal finishes.
Joe Calio was one of the two first place finishers at the Illini Twilight winning the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:20.81. Teammate William Roth was second in the steeplechase with a time of 9:27.54.
David Johansson had the other first place finish at Illinois winning the men's javelin with a toss of 194'6". Freshman Riley Kittridge placed second in the men's shot put with a mark of 53'11.75".
Freshman Emily Brelsfoard posted a second place finish in the women's 5K to pace the Panther women's runners. Her silver medal time was 17:17.38.
Jalisa Paramore had a pair of first place finishes for the EIU women at the WKU Hilltopper Relays as she won the gold medal in both a track and field event. Paramore won the women's long jump with a mark of 20'3.75". She won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.79.
Daniel Trevor had a first and second place finish for the EIU men in hurdles. He won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.57. He was second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.87. On the women's side Amina Jackson placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.11.
The Panthers swept the men's and women's first place spots in the pole vault including a podium sweep for the men. Peter Geraghty won the men's pole vault with a height of 17'6.50". Mick Viken was second at 17'0.75". Eric Gordon was the bronze medalist for EIU. Annemarie Reid picked up a first place finish for the women in the event clearing 12'4.75".
Dhiaa Dean had the final first place finish for the EIU women winning the 800m with a time of 2:12.97.
Aviance King won the men's high jump with a mark of 6'8.75" besting two other competitors based on number of attempts.
The final first place effort was turned in by the men's 4x100 relay team that posted a time of 40.44. The team included Christian Illunga-Matthiesen, Calvin Edwards, Jamal Robinson and Kaleel Johnson.
