Men 2nd, Women 4th At Big Blue Classic

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois wrapped up the Big Blue Classic on Saturday afternoon with the Panther men placing second and EIU women recording a fourth place finish. Sophomore Calvin Edwards turned in a pair of first place finishes for the Panthers winning the 200m and 400m.
Indiana State won the both the men's and women's team titles. The Sycamore men scored 224.5 followed by EIU with 174.5 points and Southern Illinois in third with 138.5 points. ISU won the women's crown with a 136 points followed by Western Michigan with 131 points and SIU with 121. The Panther women scored 106 points.
Edwards won the men's 400m dash with a time of 47.23 while Tamara Keane of Lincoln University won the women's 400m with a time of 55.31. Edwards won the 200m with a time of 21.16. Yanique Ellington gave Lincoln University a win in the women's 200m with a time of 24.22.
David Johansson won the men's javelin with a throw of 191'9. Condia Smith placed second for the EIU women in the javelin with a throw of 114'3". The women's javelin was won by Rebecka Anderson of Grand Valley State with a throw of 142'3".
Aviance King placed second in the men's high jump for the Panther men clearing 6'8". Kyle Landon of Southern Illinois set a meet record clearing 7'2.25" to place first. Elizabeth Evans won the women's event competing unattached with a height of 5'10".
Jamal Robinson placed second in the men's 100m dash with a finals time of 10.72. Romone Hill of Lincoln University won the race with a time of 10.47. Katie Wise of Indiana State won the women's 100m dash with a time of 11.34 setting the stadium record.
Josh Freeman of Southern Illinois won the men's shot put with a throw of 63.6" while former All-American Felisha Johnson won the women's shot put as an unattached competitor with a throw of 60'7.25, breaking her own Big Blue Classic record mark.
Andrea Hiler of Western Michigan won the women's discus with a throw of 170'2". Curtis Wideman of Southern Illinois won the men's discus with a throw of 174'4".
Tendo Lukwago of Grand Valley State won the men's long jump with a mark of 23'8.25". Kathryn Pickett of Western Michigan won the women's long jump at 19'6". Lukwago pulled off the double gold medal performance in the sand jumps winning the men's triple jump at 48'10.75". Carmelia Stewart of Indiana State won the women's triple jump at 41'11.50".
Kristen Hixson of Grand Valley State won the women's pole vault clearing 13'9.25" and winning the event based on number of attempts over Indiana State's Kimyanna Rudolph. Bret Myers of Grand Valley State won the men's pole vault clearing 16'4.75".
Hannah Osborn of Grand Valley State won the women's steeplechase setting a stadium record with a time of 10:45.01 breaking the previous mark set by EIU's Brittany Whitehead at last year's OVC Championship. Taylor Head of Indiana State won the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:23.94.
Greggmar Swift of Indiana State won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.73. Kalena Franklin of Grand Valley State won the women's 100m hurdles at 13.66.
Lincoln University swept the men's and women's 4x100m relays. The men's winning time was 40.59. The women's winning time was 46.92.
Nicole Cargill of Dayton won the women's 1,500m with a time of 4:32.86. David Timlin of Indiana State won the men's 1,500m with a time of 3:54.20.
Monique Thompson of Lincoln University won the women's 800m with a time of 2:10.73. Kieran Reilly won the men's 800m with a time of 1:52.13 running unattached. Andrew Bosket of Lipscomb was the top collegiate finisher in the men's race at 1:52.76 placing second overall.
Indiana State closed out men's race winning the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:13.41. Lincoln University won the women's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:43.56.
