EIU Sending Two To Track National Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois will send two pole vaulters to compete at the NCAA Track & Field Outdoor National Championships this week at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Mick Viken and Jade Riebold will represent the Panthers at the championship event.
Viken was a second team All-American last year placing 12th at the NCAA National Championships with a height of 17'4.50”. This year he advanced to the NCAA Championships by placing 9th in the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas. He cleared 17'8.50” at the NCAA Regional to match his career best.
Riebold was an honorable mention All-American last year placing 20th at the NCAA National Championships with a height of 12'9.50”. This year she advanced to the NCAA Championship by placing 5th in the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas. She cleared 13'5.75” at the NCAA Regional. Riebold's career best of 14'3.25” came earlier this year at the Western Kentucky Relays. During the indoor season she was the national runner-up in the pole vault.
Viken will compete on Wednesday night with Riebold scheduled to compete on Friday night.
