Outdoor Track Opens Season This Weekend

 
EIU is coming off a strong indoor season in which the Panther women won the Ohio Valley Conference Championship while the EIU men placed second.
 
The EIU women will open the outdoor season returning five athletes that earned All-OVC honors last season at the outdoor championships.  Emily Brelsfoard was first team All-OVC winning the 10K.  Dhiaa Dean was first team All-OVC winning the 800m.  Kristen Paris was second in the 800m earning second team All-OVC honors. Annemarie Reid was first team All-OVC winning the pole vault.  Amina Jackson was second team All-OVC with a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles.
 
On the men's side EIU returns three individuals that earned All-OVC honors at last season's outdoor championships and three members of its 4x100m relay team that earned first team honors.   Danny Trevor was a dual first team All-OVC selection winning both the 110m and 400m hurdles.  Aviance King was a second team All-OVC selection with a second place finish in the high jump.  Calvin Edwards earned second team All-OVC honors in the 400m.  He was also a member of the 4x100m relay squad earning first team All-OVC honors in that event.  Edwards returns on the relay team along with Jamal Robinson and Christian Ilunga-Matthiesen.
