Panthers Compete at GVSU Big Meet

Friday highlights for the guys included Norvel Mohammed winning the 200-Meter Run race with a new personal best indoor mark of 21.23, which improves his Top 10 rank to #5, as he also leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ties for 34th in the nation.
Reigning OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week, Ephraim Dorsey, earned runner-up honors in the 800-Meter Run with a personal best time of 1:49.00. That time moves him to #3 in the EIU Top 10, while tying for 22nd in the nation.
Mohammed and Calvin Edwards earned second and fifth place marks in the 400-Meter Dash via times of 47.23 and 47.89, respectively.
Riley McInerney placed second overall in the Mile Run with a nice personal best time of 4:05.93, adding his name to the career list at #5, which jumps ahead of the Top 10 mark earned by his dad, John McInerney.
The EIU men also finish second, third and eighth in the 60-Meter Dash finals, led by Johnathan Boey's 6.81 mark, while the ladies also placed second and seventh in the same race, paced by Angelica Anyaogu's 7.62 finish.
For the women, Jordan Wallace shattered the EIU school mark in the 3000-Meter Run with a finish of 9:43.13, more than eight seconds faster than previous time to now rank second-best in the league this season. In the same event, Emily Brelsfoard improved her #10 EIU mark with a finish of 10:08.60.
Dhiaa Dean wins women's 400 with a personal best 55.28 which improves her EIU record book mark up to #2.
Amina Jackson also came in second in the 600-Meter Run with a new personal best time of 1:34.88, which places her third best in EIU record book.
Kristen Paris won her heat in the Mile Run with a new personal best time of 4:57.06, improving her EIU Top 10 time to fifth best. Julie James added her own Top 10 mark in same event with a time of 5:01.70 for a new ninth place rank.
Maria Baldwin ran a personal best 17:33.87 in the 5000-Meter Run, which places her #4 in the EIU record books.
Next weekend (Feb. 20) both EIU squads return home to host the annual Friday Night Special inside their own Lantz Fieldhouse.
