Panthers Set for GVSU Big Meet
Friday, February 13 2015 - Big MeetEIU men & women to compete against 50-plus squads at Friday's full day of action
Track races are set to begin at 10 a.m. (central), followed by field events at 1 p.m., with all the action taking place inside the Kelly Family Sports Center up in Allendale, Mich.
Besides the host Lakers, the Panthers are also scheduled to face fellow Ohio Valley Conference foes Murray State and SIU Edwardsville. While a full contingent of additional opponents includes Aquinas (Mich.), Ashland, Bellarmine, Bowling Green, Calvin (Mich.), Cardinal Stritch (Wis.), Central Missouri, Colorado State-Pueblo, Colorado School of Mines, Columbia College (Ill.), Concordia (Mich.), Converse (S.C.), Cornerstone (Mich.), Cuyahoga CC (Mich.), Eastern Michigan, Edinboro (Pa.), Ferris State, Heidelberg (Ohio), Hillsdale, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Indiana Tech, Lake Erie, Lake Superior State, Lock Haven (Pa.), Loyola (Ill.), Malone (Ohio), Mansfield (Pa.), Marquette (Wis.), McKendree (Ill.), Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, Northwestern (Iowa), Northwood (Mich.), Notre Dame (Ohio), Oakland (Mich.), Ohio Dominican, Ohio Northern, Saginaw Valley State, Sienna Heights (Mich.), Southern Indiana, Spring Arbor (Mich.), St. Francis (Ill.), St. Joseph's (Ind.), Trine (Ind.), Vincennes (Ind.), VFL Sindelfingen, Washington Univ. (Mo.), Wayne State, West Texas A&M, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Wisconsin-Parkside.
Thus far this indoor season, both Eastern squads have already combined for 32 EIU Top 10 marks, including 27 such performances on the women's side. Highlights from last weekend's fine meet at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite include Ephraim Dorsey's new school record time in the 600-Meter, and a foursome of Panther women shattering the Distance Medley Relay mark by more than five seconds.
Last season, the Panthers enjoyed several first place marks as the guys captured the team invite title, while the ladies finished sixth overall.
Next weekend (Feb. 20) both EIU squads will return home to host the annual Friday Night Special inside their own Lantz Fieldhouse.
