EIU To Compete In 7 Events At Drake Relays

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field will compete in seven events as the Panthers head to the 2014 Drake Relays this weekend. EIU will open competition on Friday morning with the final event for EIU set on Saturday morning. Following this weekend, EIU will compete in the 2014 OVC Championships May 2-3 at SIU Edwardsville.
Jalisa Paramore will compete in two events representing the EIU women at Drake. Paramore will take place in the women's 100m hurdles at 9:32 on Friday morning and then head over to the women's long jump at 10 a.m. that same morning. Paramore is currently 30th in the nation and first in the OVC in the long jump. She is third in the OVC in the 100m hurdles this season.
Pole vaulters Peter Geraghty and Mick Viken will both compete on Friday afternoon as the pair of EIU athletes have both cleared 18' this season and rank in the top ten in the NCAA. Geraghty broke the EIU school and O'Brien Field record at the Tuesday Tweener clearing 18'2.75". Viken's top mark this season is 18'0.50".
Daniel Trevor will compete in the men's 110m hurdles as he ranks second in the OVC this season in the event. Trevor will compete on Friday morning.
David Johansson will compete in the men's javelin throw on Friday morning.
Joe Calio will wrap up the competition for EIU on Saturday morning in the men's steeplechase. The sophomore is currently second in the OVC in the event this season.
EIU's final group will be the men's 4x100 relay team which ranks first in the OVC this season. The 4x100 relay prelims are Friday at 11 a.m.
