Cross Country Heads To NCAA Regional
Thursday, November 14 2013 - NCAA Regional Championships (XC)Panthers to compete Friday afternoon in Ames, Iowa
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois will travel to the NCAA Midwest Regional this Friday competing in the men's and women's events in Ames, Iowa. The men will compete in the 10K at 12 p.m. followed by the women's 6K at 1:15 p.m.
Eastern Illinois was third in the women's Ohio Valley Conference Championships on November 2. The Panther men placed fourth at the OVC meet.
EIU had a second team All-OVC finisher in both the women's and men's races. Victoria Quarton placed 10th to lead the EIU women at the OVC meet with a 5K time of 18:32.51. Riley McInerney was the men's top finisher at the OVC meeting posting an 8K time of 25:26.79, good for 12th place.
The other top EIU women's runners this season have been freshmen Emily Brelsfoard, Ivy Handley and Julie James, all among the top five EIU finishers at the OVC championships along with sophomore Kelsey Hardimon.
The EIU men have been paced this season by seniors Pablo Ramirez, Mike Hesslau and Danny Delaney.
