Women 3rd, Men 4th At OVC Cross Championship
Sunday, November 3 2013 - OVC Championships (XC)Riley McInerney and Vicotria Quarton both earn second team All-OVC
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Eastern Illinois women's team placed third and the Panther men placed fourth on Saturday at the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Morehead State. EIU had a second team All-OVC runner for both the men and women.
Charleston native Riley McInerney earned second team All-OVC honors for the men with an 8K time of 25:26.79 as he placed 12th in the meet. Eastern Kentucky was the overall men's team champion with the top four finishers in the race. Belmont was second followed by host Morehead State and EIU in fourth.
Sophomore Victoria Quarton earned second team All-OVC honors for the women with a 5K time of 18:32.51 as she placed 10th in the meet. EKU was the women's champion with Belmont second, EIU third and Southeast Missouri fourth.
Kelsey Hardimon posted the second best time for the EIU women placing 19th at 19:04.89. Julie James, Ivy Handley and Emily Brelsfoard accounted for the remaining scored EIU runners. James was 21st at 19:06.61. Handley was 24th at 19:10.98. Brelsfoard was 26th with a time of 19:13.93. The other three EIU runners in the meet were Rachel Garippo, Katelyn Duckett and Ruth Garippo. Rachel Garippo was 43rd with a time of 19:41.87. Duckett was 47th with a time of 19:48.32. Ruth Garippo was 48th with a time of 19:51.19.
Pablo Ramirez was the second fastest EIU men's competitor placing 16th with a time of 25:37.34. Mike Hesslau was 25th at 25:52.12, Paxson Menard was 29th at 26:04.99 and Danny Delaney rounded out the EIU scorer runners in 30th place with a time of 26:06.65. Matt Black, William Roth and Bryce Basting were the final three EIU runners at the meet. Black was 33rd at 26:23.86. Roth was 43rd at 26:45.47. Basting was 45th at 26:50.77.
