Track Out To Defend OVC Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois track and field senior class will look to make it a clean sweep for their careers as the Panthers head to Cape Girardeau, Mo. this weekend to defend their Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track Championships.
This group of seniors on both the men's and women's side has never lost an indoor or outdoor track championship in their careers having won four straight indoor titles and three straight outdoor titles.
On the men's side EIU enters the championships with eight individuals posting OVC Bests this season along with the 4x100 and 4x400 relay holding the conference's best times. On the women's side four individuals enter the weekend with OVC Best marks.
Senior Zye Boey holds the league's best marks in the 100m and 200m as well as part of the 4x100 relay.
Graham Morris holds the league's best marks in the 1500m and 3K steeplechase. FreshmanBryce Basting is the OVC leader in the 800m.
Jalisa Paramore and Britney Whitehead hold the OVC's top marks in running events on the women's side. Paramore is the OVC leader in the 100m hurdles while Whitehead is the OVC leader in the steeplechase following her school record mark at the Drake Relays last weekend.
Queenie Adeboyejo and Jade Riebold hold top marks for the EIU women in field events. Adeboyejo is the OVC leader in the triple jump. Riebold leads the OVC in the pole vault as she is currently ranked in the top ten nationally in the event.
Fellow pole vaulter Mick Viken leads the OVC on the men's side. He is joined by Tyler Allenin the triple jump and Donald Romero in the hammer as OVC leaders heading into the championships.
