EIU Sweeps Fourth Straight OVC Track Title

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Eastern Illinois track and field seniors ended their careers having gone undefeated in Ohio Valley Conference Track Championships as the Panther men and women both won their fourth straight OVC Outdoor titles on Saturday afternoon.
The EIU men won scoring 246.5 points with Southeast Missouri second with 193 points and Eastern Kentucky a distant third with 90.5 points.
The EIU women won scoring 179.5 points edging second place Southeast Missouri with 170 points. Murray State was third with 112 and Jacksonville State fourth with 111.
The Panther men had six individual first place finishes on Saturday along with wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 winning time was 40.31. The 4x400 winning time was 3:14.39.
Jalisa Paramore was the lone individual first place finisher for the EIU women winning the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.65.
Zye Boey swept the two short sprint events with wins in the 100m and 200m. His winning time in the 200m was 20.94. He won the 100m with a time of 10.31. Teammate Jacob Mitchellwas second in the 100m with a time of 10.58.
Stefan Gorol and Cody Boarman placed one, two in the 400m. Gorol won with a time of 47.39 while Boarman was just behind with a time of 47.90.
Dominique Hall and Bryce Basting rounded out the individual first place finishers for the EIU men on the track. Hall won the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.46. Basting won the 1500m with a time of 4:05.37.
Donald Romero and Tyler Allen had first place finishes for the EIU men in field events. Romero won the hammer throw with a mark of 188'2". Allen won the triple jump clearing 49'2.50".
Megan Gingerich, Erika Ramos and Ephraim Dorsey added second place finishes for the EIU men and women. Gingerich placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:10.26. Ramos was second in the 1500m with a time of 4:31.57. Dorsey was second in the men's 800m with a time of 1:53.78.
