Boey Named Track Athlete Of The Championships

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois senior sprinter Zye Boey has been named the OVC Male Athlete of the Championships after helping the Panthers win their fourth straight OVC Outdoor Track title. Boey placed first in the 100m and 200m sprints before running a leg on the championship 4x100 relay team.
EIU head coach Tom Akers was named the OVC Coach of the Year following the meet. The championship was the fourth straight for the EIU men and 13th overall since the Panthers joined the OVC. The EIU women's team captured its fourth straight OVC outdoor title and fifth overall.
Additional top performances from the OVC Meet included:
Jade Riebold set OVC record in the women's pole vault with a height of 12'5.50”
Jalisa Paramore won the women's 100m hurdles with her time of 13.65 setting the school record.
Maura Cummins won the women's high jump and her height of 5'8.50” ranks fourth on the EIU career list.
Bryce Hogan won the men's long jump with a mark of 24'11.25 which ranks fifth on the EIU career list.
Tyler Allen won the men's triple jump with a mark of 49'2.50” which moved him into tenth on the EIU career list.
Stefan Gorol won the men's 400m dash with a time of 47.39 which ranks eighth on the EIU career list.
Janessa Clay was third in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.38 which ranks sixth on the EIU career list.
Megan Gingerich was third in the women's 1500m run with a time of 4:32.61 which ranks fourth on the EIU career list.
Clay and Gingerich joined Emily Quinones and Erika Ramos on the women's 4x400 relay team that placed fourth in the meet with a time of 3:45.66 which ranks sixth on the EIU career list.
Donald Romero was fifth in the shot put with his throw of 53'11.25” ranking ninth on the EIU career list.
Steven Clark was third in the 100m dash with a time of 10.59 which ranks 10th on the EIU career list. He finished behind teammates Zye Boey and Jacob Mitchell who both have previous marks ranking in the EIU career top ten. Boey is the school record holder in the event.
