Viken, Riebold Win Pole Vault At Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - Eastern Illinois won first place honors in both the men's and women's pole vault on Friday as the Panthers track and field team opened up competition at the 103rd Drake Relays. Mick Viken and Jade Riebold claimed top honors in the event.
Viken matched his career best in the pole vault as he won with a height of 17'8.50". Riebold was the the first place finisher for the women clearing 13'7.25".
Zye Boey advanced to Saturday's final of the 100m dash with a time fo 10.46. Boey's relay time was fifth best in the prelims. Boey placed second at the Drake Relays as a freshman and seventh as a sophomore.
The men's 4x100 relay team also advanced to Saturday's finals with a prelim time of 40.74 which was third fastest.
Megan Gingerich represented the EIU women with a fifth place finish in the 800m. Gingerich's time was 2:08.66.
The men's 4x800 relay team placed eighth with a time of 7:32.81. The women's DMR posted a time of 11:58.60 to finish in 15th.
