EIU part of 12 team field for the two-day event


After earning a sweep in the John Craft Invite last weekend, the EIU men's & women's track & field teams will continue their season this weekend (Jan. 29-30) as they travel to Bloomington, Ind. for the two-day Indiana Relays. The Indiana Relays will take place in the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse located on the Indiana campus. NOTABLE FINISHES AT THE JOHN CRAFT INVITE
The EIU men's & women's indoor track & field teams earned a combined 21 first place finishes as both teams were victorious in their respective divisions.  

Brion PortisAmy YeomanJanie HowseEric Gordon, and Davion McManis all earned notable first place finishes. Portis inked her name in the EIU record books, as her distance of 37'10.50" in the women's triple jump is the ninth best mark in program history. Yeoman (mile; 5:03.34), Howse (weight throw; 58'1.00"), Gordon (pole vault; 15'05.75"), and McManis (long jump; 23'4.00") all set new in season PR's in their respective events.

ABOUT THE INDIANA RELAYS
With athletes coming from all across the country, the Indiana Relays will host competitors from 12 different school. Indiana, Cincinnati, Butler, Alabama, Notre Dame, Purdue, Tulane, Loyola (Ill.), Kentucky, Louisville, and Siena Heights are all expected to compete against EIU in the two-day event.

The Indiana Relays begin on Friday (Jan. 29) at 5 p.m. (central time) with the women's long jump kicking off the field events and the women's 60-meter hurdles prelims for the track events. The women's distance medley relay is expected to begin at 8:10 p.m. (central time) and will conclude the first day of the competition.

Action will resume on Saturday morning (Jan. 30) at 10 a.m. (central time) with the women's weight throw and the women's mile starting the events for the day. The 4x400-meter relays will be the final competitions for the Indiana Relays. The women's 4x400-meter relay will begin around approximately 1 p.m. (central time) with the men's units to follow.

After the conclusion of the Indiana Relays, the EIU men's & women's indoor track & field teams will compete in the Notre Dame Meyo Invite Feb. 5-6.
