EIU on Mark to host John Craft Invite
Saturday, January 24 2015 - John Craft InvitePanther men & women set to entertain 11 squads at annual indoor event
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's indoor track and field continues their January slate with this coming Saturday's (Jan. 24) annual John Craft Invitational. The Panthers will host 11 additional squads inside the Lantz Fieldhouse, with field and track events set for respective 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. starts.
Besides the Panther squads, other Division I teams scheduled to participate include Bradley, Illinois State, Saint Louis and Western Illinois, with the addition of non-DI units from the Illinois Track & Club, Judson College, Maryville (Mo.), McKendree, Rend Lake, and Wabash Valley.
Saturday morning field events will include the weight throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump, pole vault and the high jump. While afternoon racing events will feature 60-M hurdles and dash (prelims & finals), mile run, 400-M dash, 600-M run, 800-M run, 400-M hurdles, 3K, 200-M dash (women), plus the distance medley and 4x400-M relays.
Last season, both Panther units secured first place team honors at the annual event named for former EIU and Olympian long jumper and track & field coach John Craft.
