EIU men & women set for prestigious two-day indoor event at Notre Dame

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Following several fine performances at last week's Indiana Relays, Eastern Illinois men's and women's track and field continues winter indoor action at the two-day Meyo Invitational on Feb. 6-7. The University of Notre Dame will play host to the prestigious event which will take place inside the Loftus Sports Center.

Besides the host Fighting Irish, the Panthers are scheduled to face fellow Ohio Valley Conference foe SIU Edwardsville. While a large contingent of additional opponents also includes Ball State, Bradley, Bucknell, Butler, Campbell, Central Michigan, Chicago State, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Grand Valley State, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Indiana State, Kent State, Loyola (Chicago), Marquette, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Northwestern, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Purdue, Saint Louis, Texas, Toledo, UW-Milwaukee, Vanderbilt, Western Illinois, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, and Wichita State.

Friday (Feb. 6) afternoon action is set to get underway at 3 p.m. (central time) with a full contingent of field events on tap, while the track races will follow at 3:30 p.m.

On Saturday (Feb. 7), additional field events are scheduled for a 9:30 (central) start time, following 9 a.m. unseeded sections of several races, before invitational finals get going at 1 p.m.

Both Panther units competed at the same event last season with a pair of athletes earning first place marks while other performers also set school Top 10 marks over the course of the weekend.

Next weekend both EIU squads will head north to Allendale, Mich. to compete in the Grand Valley State Big Meet all day next Friday (Feb. 13).
