EIU Completes Friday Night Special

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's track posted 14 first place finishes as they won the EIU Friday Night Special with NCAA Division I squads from Indiana State and Southern Illinois also scored.
Peter Geraghty tied the school record in the men's pole vault as he cleared 17'10.50" on the night placing first ahead of teammate and co-record holder Mick Viken.
Angelica Anyaogu won two events for the EIU women. She won the long jump with a distance of 17'11.50" and the 60m dash with a time of 7.73.
Dhiaa Dean won the women's 400m with a time of 56.79 which ranks fifth on the EIU all-time list. Dean also ran the third leg of the 4x400 relay that placed first with a time of 3:55.07.
Kailey James and Aviance King swept the high jump for the Panther women and men. James won the women's event with a height of 5'3.75". King won the men's high jump at 6'8".
Christian Kolb gave the Panthers a sweep in the 400m as he won the men's event with a time of 50.63 while Kaleel Johnson gave EIU a sweep in the 60m winning the men's race at 6.87.
Calvin Edwards and Kirsten Bryant won the men's and women's 200m events for EIU. Edwards won the men's race at 21.85. Bryant won the women's race at 25.82.
Jalisa Paramore, Emily Brelsfoard and Mike Hesslau rounded out the EIU first place finishers. Paramore won the 60m hurdles at 8.67. Brelsfoard won the women's mile at 5:07.65. Hesslau won the men's 1,000m race at 2:30.61.
The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Nashville.
