Men's Track Adds Four Athletes

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's track and field has added four athletes as the Panthers prepare to return to campus for the 2013-14 season.  Joining the roster are Jeff Brogar, Ethan Cane, Norvell Muhammed and Jamal Robinson.  EIU won its fifth straight Ohio Valley Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track Championships last season.

Brogar competed at South Elgin High School specializing in the 400m dash.  He was an All-State performer in the event at this year's IHSA Class 3A State Championships at EIU's O'Brien Field with a finals time of 49.67.  His season best time was in the prelims with a tie of 49.11.  He was the St. Charles North 3A Sectional Champion in the 400m with a time of 49.32.

Cane competed at Minooka Community High School advancing to the Joliet West Sectional in both the long jump and triple jump.  His best long jump of the season was 22'7”.  He posted a long jump of 22'3.50” and triple jump of 43'7” at the sectional.  During the indoor season he competed in the high jump with a season best height of 6'2”.  At the Indoor Illinois Top Times 3A meet he had a triple jump of 44'3.25” which ranked 22nd in the state.

Muhammed is a junior college transfer after two successful seasons at Lincoln College.  He advanced to the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships as both a freshman and sophomore.  During his sophomore season he finished seventh in the 400m at the Outdoor Championships earning All-America honors with a finals time of 46.68.  He competed at the national meet in the 200m and 4x100 relay during both seasons.  Muhammed was a prep athlete at Sun Prairie High School in Wisconsin advancing to the state championships in both his junior and senior years.

Robinson competed at Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis where as a junior he was a medalist at the Missouri State Championships in both the 100m and 200m.  He was second in the 100m with a time of 10.81.  He was third in the 200m with a time of 21.63.  As a senior he was the 200m state champion with a time of 21.87.  He advanced to the state championships in the 100m but did not place.
