Track Heads To Notre Dame Meyo Invite

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field heads to the Notre Dame Meyo Invite this weekend as the Panthers are coming off a solid performance at last week's Indiana Relays. Junior pole vaulters Mick Viken and Jade Riebold were named the OVC Male and Female Field Athletes of the Week.
Riebold placed first in the pole vault at the IU Relays with a height of 13'9.25”. That mark ranks seventh in the NCAA this season.
Viken won his third straight OVC Athlete of the Week honor placing second based on attempts at the IU Relays with a height of 17'8.50”. That mark ranks eighth in the NCAA this season.
Senior Erika Ramos was second at the IU Relays with a time of 2:11.31. Her season best from the EIU John Craft on Jan. 19 ranks her 46th in the NCAA this season.
Other women's top performances turned in at the IU Relays last week included Britney Whitehead in the 3,000m, Annemarie Reid in the pole vault, Maura Cummins in the high jump and Jalisa Paramore in the 60m hurdles. Whitehead set the school record in the 3000m with a time of 9:51.74. Reid posted a height of 11'11.75” in the pole vault which is fifth on the EIU career list. Cummins cleared 5'8.50” in the high jump with that mark moving her up to third on the EIU career list. Paramore was third in the 60m hurdles with her time of 8.54 ranking fifth on the EIU career list.
Other men's top performances at the IU Relays last week included Calvin Edwards in the 200m dash and Eric Gordon in the pole vault. Edwards was second in the 200m with a time of 21.83 which cracked the EIU career top ten in ninth place. Gordon had a pole vault height of 16'4.75” which ranks him sixth on the EIU career list.
Competition begins Friday at 3 p.m. with the women's pole vault. Running events are slated to begin at 4 p.m. with the 60m hurdles. Saturday action starts at 9 a.m. with the 3,000m run.
