Basting, Whitehead Win OVC Weekly Track Award

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois middle distance runners Bryce Basting and Britney Whitehead were named the Ohio Valley Conference Male and Female Track Athletes of the Week following the Panthers performance at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite.

Basting ran in a competitive 800m field as he placed fourth with a time of 1:50.13.  That time ranks third on the EIU career list and is currently 26th in the NCAA this season.

Whitehead placed fourth in the women's mile with a time of 4:53.59.  The mark set the EIU school record as the senior has now set a school record in consecutive weeks.  She set the school record in the 3000m run at the Indiana Relays.

EIU returns to action this weekend at Grand Valley Big Meet.
