Cross Country Cracks USTFCCCA Regional Top 15

NEW ORLEANS – Bolstered by a strong showing at the Bradley Classic which included several regionally ranked teams, Eastern Illinois men's cross country landed in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll this week at No. 15.
The Panthers placed fifth at the Bradley Classic and will return to action on Oct. 27 when they compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Alabama.
Sophomore Bryce Basting paced the Panthers at the Bradley Classic placing third overall with a time of 24:23. That time ranks as the eighth fastest in school history.
Oklahoma State leads four schools from the Big 12 Conference in the rankings as they are ranked No. 1 in the Midwest Region. They are followed by Oklahoma, Tulsa, Iowa State and Kansas in the top five. Big Ten member Minnesota is sixth followed by Illinois, Missouri, Southern Illinois and Iowa in the top ten. Loyola-Chicago is 11th with the top 15 rounded out by South Dakota State, Wichita State, Northern Iowa and EIU.
Eastern Kentucky is the only other OVC school to be ranked in any region as the Colonels are ranked first in the Southeast Region.
