Panther Track On The Road At Iowa State

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Eastern Illinois indoor track and field will venture to Ames, Iowa this weekend to compete in the Iowa State Classic. The Panthers are coming off a solid performance at the Notre Dame Meyo Invite in which three athletes were named OVC Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
Redshirt freshman Zye Boey continued his outstanding rookie campaign by winning the 200m sprint with a school record time 20.93. That also hit the NCAA provisional mark and ranks fifth in the nation this season.
EIU also had top performances last week from David Holm who won the 1000m race after he hit the NCAA provisional mark in the 800m earlier this season. DeMarcus Brooks, Chevon Walker, Clint Coffey and Tyler Carter each finished with top ten finishes in their respective events.
On the women's side Chandra Golden and Kandace Arnold both turned in strong performances last week. Golden was fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.47 which moved her up to third on the EIU career record book.
Arnold was a seventh place finisher in the weight throw and eighth place performer in the shot put. Teammate Nicole Walcott also posted a top ten finish for the EIU women.
Action starts at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon with Saturday action slated for a 10 a.m. start time.
