Panthers Take Three OVC Track Awards

Zye Boey, a redshirt freshman from Decatur, Ill., continued his domination on the track winning his fourth award this season as the Male Track Athlete of the Week. He was the top collegiate finisher in the 60m and 200m dash at the Meyo Invite. His time of 6.69 in the 60m dash placed his second behind an unattached first place finisher. In the 200m dash he set the EIU school mark with a time of 20.93. That time ranks third in the NCAA this season and hits the NCAA provisional mark.
Chandra Golden, a junior from Normal, Ill., won the Female Track Athlete of the Week Award for the third time this season. Golden placed fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.47. That mark ranks first in the OVC this season and moved her up to third on the EIU career record list. Golden also ranks second this season in the OVC in the 60m dash.
Kandace Arnold, a junior from Evergreen Park, Ill., won the Female Field Athlete of the Week Award for the second time this year after two top ten finishes at Notre Dame. Arnold was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 53’07” and eighth in the shot put at 45’01.75”. This season Arnold leads the OVC in both the weight throw and shot put.
EIU continues indoor action this weekend when they travel to the Iowa State Classic at the Lied Recreation Center.
