Panthers Solid At Iowa State Classic

The EIU men continued to have solid performances during the indoor season as David Holm just missed the school record with a second place finish in the 800m run. Holm posted a time of 1:48.86 which was just shy of Jim Maton’s school mark of 1:48.62. The time hits the NCAA provisional mark.
In sprints the Panther men had a pair of top ten finishers as DeMarcus Brooks and Zye Boey battled for a fifth and sixth place finish. Brooks crossed in 6.80 with Boey just behind at 6.81.
In early morning action EIU had four top ten finishes in non-seeded action. Jason Springer placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:14.88 and Joe Noonan was fifth in the pole vault at 15’07” for the men. For the women Megan Gingerich was 7th in the 800m run at 2:18.03 while Bridget Sanchez placed 10th in the 400m dash at 58.95.
Chandra Golden had a solid effort in the 60m hurdles placing fifth overall with a time of 8.50. It was three one-hundredths shy of her personal best. Freshman Tyler Carter was 22nd in the hurdles for the EIU men at 8.33.
In afternoon field events Ian Winston placed 12th in the men’s seeded high jump with a leap of 6’07.50”. Kandace Arnold was a 20th place finisher in the women’s shot put with a toss of 45’07”.
