Track Shooting For Fourth Straight Indoor Title

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's indoor track will look to capture their fourth straight indoor track and field title as they head to the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Meet this Friday and Saturday in Nashville. Both EIU squads have won three straight indoor crowns and six straight championships which includes sweeping the outdoor championships in each of the last three years.
On the men's side EIU enters the meet with six individual first place marks from the regular season. Zye Boey posted the OVC's best time in the 60m and 200m during the regular season. Stefan Gorol had the OVC's top 400m time and Tyler Carter was the top runner in the 60m hurdles. In field events Donald Romero posted the league's top weight throw mark whileMick Viken was the league's top pole vaulter.
The EIU men's distance medley relay team and 4x400 relay teams recorded the top times during the regular season.
On the women's side EIU had three athletes with the best marks in the OVC during the regular season. Jade Riebold was the league leader in the pole vault with Queenie Adeboyejo the OVC's top athlete in the triple jump. On the track Jalisa Paramore posted the top time in the 60m hurdles. The women's DMR squad had the top time in the league.
Megan Gingerich, Erika Ramos, Maura Cummins and Sean Wiggan all posted the OVC's second best time in their respective events. Gingerich held the OVC's second best time in the 800m with Ramos posting the second best mile time. Cummins was second in the OVC in the high jump for the women. Wiggan had the OVC's second best time in the 800m on the men's side.
Competition begins on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the long jump, high jump and shot put. Running events on Friday start at 2 p.m. with the 800m run. Saturday's schedule starts at 9 a.m. with the weight throw.
