EIU Year In Review - No. 8 Track dynasty continues with OVC title sweep

 

The track and field dynasty of the Ohio Valley Conference continued during the 2011 school year as the Panthers added four more trophies to their mantle by sweeping the men's and women's indoor and outdoor team championships.  The men posted a pair of dominating performances as they won the indoor title by 139 points and the outdoor title by 86 points.  The EIU women clinched the indoor title with three events remaining, walking away with the trophy by a 37-point margin.  The outdoor title was a little closer as the Panthers won by four points despite have a DQ in the final event of the meet.

 

The wins marked the third straight championship for both teams in both the indoor and outdoor seasons.  It was the 13^th OVC indoor title and the 12^th OVC outdoor title for the men's program.  The EIU women's program has now won four indoor and four outdoor championships.
