Track Faces Tough Field At Iowa State Classic

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois indoor track and field heads to its second big meet in as many weeks as the Panthers will compete at the Iowa State Classic this Friday and Saturday. In addition Zye Boey and Megan Gingerich have been invited to compete in the Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas.
Field events on Friday begin with the women’s weight throw at noon, while the women’s distance medley relay will get events started on the track at 3 p.m. Saturday will see running events resume at 9 a.m. while field events are schedule for a 10 a.m. start.
Boey heads into the Tyson Invitational ranked third nationally in the 200m while he is 24th nationally in the 60m dash.
Joining Boey in this week’s national rakings are Mick Viken who is currently 20th in the pole vault and Tyler Carter who is 37th in the long jump.
EIU will return home to host the Friday Night Special on Feb. 18 before hosting the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Feb. 25-26.
