Men's Track Climbs Two Spots In Regional Rankings
Tuesday, February 8 2011 - Iowa State ClassicEIU currently has two athletes ranking in the NCAA top 25 in their individual events. Zye Boeyis currently third in the 200m and 25th in the 60m dash. Boey posted the nation’s fastest 200m time of the week at the Notre Dame Meyo as he set the EIU school record with a time of 20.89. Boey has already clinched a berth in the 2011 NCAA Indoor National Championships in the 200m. Mick Viken is currently 20th in the NCAA in the pole vault. Viken placed first at the Notre Dame Meyo with a vault of 17’0.75”.
The Panthers compete in the Midwest Region which includes NCAA Division I schools from the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
Oklahoma moved up to become the top ranked team in the region this week followed by Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. Wichita State is sixth followed by Eastern Illinois in seventh. Kansas State, Iowa State and Southern Illinois rounded out the top ten. Missouri, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts and Kansas filled out the final five spots in the regional poll.
