Men's Track Adds Three For 2014-15 Roster

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's track and cross country teams have added three athletes to the Panthers 2014-15 roster including two that competed at the IHSA State Track Championships this past weekend.  Set to join EIU's track and cross country programs are Michael Brown, Will Grioux and Chris Orlow.
 
Brown competed at Carmi-White County High School where he won his second straight IHSA Class 1A state title in the 800m this past weekend.  Brown won the 800m as a senior with a time of 1:54.33.  As a junior he won the state title with a time of 1:55.47.  Brown was an all-state performer three times in the 800m as he placed seventh in the 800m as a sophomore.  During his senior season he won the Fairfield Sectional in the 1600m with a time of 4:37.48 to also advance to the IHSA State meet in that event.
 
Grioux was an accomplished cross country runner at Lockport Township High School.  He advanced to the IHSA Class 3A State Cross Country Championships as a junior and senior. During his senior season he placed 30th with a 3-mile time of 15:07.  Grioux went on to compete at the Mideast CC Championships placing 28th with a 5K time of 16:29.  As a junior he was 72nd at the state meet posting a 3-mile mark of 15:13.  In track Grioux competed in the 800m and 1600m runs taking part in the Romeoville Sectional.
 
Orlow competed in track and cross country at Batavia High School in Aurora.  He earned a trip to the IHSA Class 3A State Championships as a member of the 4x800m relay team.  That relay squad won the Bartlett Sectional with a time of 7:53.16.  As an individual Orlow placed third in the Bartlett Sectional in the 1600m run with a time of 4:25.75.  During the cross country season he placed 15th in the Class 3A West Chicago Regional with a time of 16:01.40 on the 5K course.
 
EIU men's track will continue its 2014 season on June 11 as the Panthers advanced two athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships set for Eugene, Ore.  SeniorsMick Viken and Peter Geraghty both advanced in the pole vault as they cleared 17'7" to rank first at the NCAA West Regional this past weekend.
