Arnold, O'Grady Win Weekly OVC Track Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois seniors Kandace Arnold and Erin O’Grady were named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track and Field Athletes of the Week following the Panthers second place finish at the Illinois Intercollegiate. 

Arnold swept both throws events for the second straight week as she helped EIU place second at the Illinois Intercollegiate hosted by EIU. Arnold won the weight throw with a distance of 56’06.25”, nearly 3 ½ feet longer than the second place competitor. She claimed top honors in the shot put with a mark of 48’7.25” which outdistanced the runner-up by more than eight feet. This is Arnold’s second OVC Athlete of the Week Honor this season. 

O’Grady won two events at the Illinois Intercollegiate as she helped EIU place second in the meet that featured Illinois and SIU Edwardsville. O’Grady won the mile with a time of 5:06.35 which landed her seventh on the Panther career charts and first on the OVC best list this season. She also placed first in the 1000 meter run with a mark of 3:00.06. 

EIU returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational.
