Olivia Klaus places third among scored runners
KENOSHA, Wis. - Eastern Illinois cross country only sent its women's team for competition this weekend and the Panthers placed fourth at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by UW Parkside. The meet featured two different distance races for the women competing at both the 4K and 5K distance.
In the standard 5K distance, EIU placed fourth out of 20 teams in the field. Ferris State was the repeat event champion scoring 60 points. DePaul was second with 93 followed by Marquette at 97 and EIU at 124.
Olivia Klaus was the Panthers top finisher placing third among scored competitors in the field, she was sixth overall in the field with a time of 18:33.6. Tina Muir of Ferris State was the overall winner at 17:45.8 while Kathryn Hague of Lewis was the second scoring finisher at 18:20.9.
Erin O'Grady led the remaining Eastern Illinois runners that scored points. O'Grady was 14th with a time of 19:04.01. Brittany Arthur was 23rd at 19:19.3 followed by Danielle Dickman in 38th at 19:41.1 andGabriela Duenas in 46th at 19:59.0.
In the women's 4K event Eastern Illinois was second finishing behind the University of Indianapolis. Britney Whitehead and Erika Ramosplaced third and fourth in that event with times of 15:47.4 and 15:53.4.
Both the EIU men's and women's cross country teams will return to action next weekend at the Evansville Invite before traveling to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 31 in Nashville.
