Louisville Twilight Up Next For Panther Track

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois will send a group of track athletes to Friday's Louisville Twilight as they prepare to post times and marks that rank among the NCAA West Region's top 48 for entry into the upcoming track regional. Field events begin at 10 a.m.; running events begin in the late afternoon.
Currently EIU has ten athletes that have posted marks that rank inside the top 48 in their events with another three that have marks just outside the top 48.
Jalisa Paramore has two current marks in the regional top 48 as she ranks 44th in both the long jump and 100m hurdles. Paramore medaled in both events last weekend helping lead EIU to its fifth straight women's OVC Outdoor Track Championship.
Jade Riebold is the highest ranked EIU competitor in the region ranking fourth in the pole vault. Riebold was the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season setting the OVC record for the event. Teammate Abigail Schmitz ranks 42nd in the region in the pole vault.
In the men's pole vault Mick Viken set the OVC record last week as he was part of the Panther men's fifth straight OVC Outdoor Track Championship. Viken is currently ranked 22nd.
Maura Cummins and Britney Whitehead give EIU two other solid women's competitors ranked in the region. Cummins is 22nd in the high jump after she tied the stadium and EIU school record last week. Whitehead is 23rd in the steeplechase after setting the stadium record in the event last week with a first place finish at the OVC meet.
On the men's side both Dominique Hall and Tyler Carter rank in the top 48 in one event and sit just outside the regional rankings in another. Hall is 28th in the 110m hurdles and 50th in the 400m hurdles. Carter is 35th in the long jump and 50th in the 110m hurdles.
Calvin Edwards and Daniel Trevor round out the EIU men's track athletes that are currently ranked in the region. Edwards is 41st in the 200m. Trevor is 47th in the 400m hurdles.
Pablo Ramirez, David Johansson and Bryce Hogan all sit just outside the regional top 48 in their respective events. Ramirez is 50th in the 10K, Johansson is 50th in the javelin and Hogan is 51st in the long jump.
