Whitehead Named OVC Track Athlete Of The Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Eastern Illinois senior Britney Whitehead was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week following her performances in two distance meets in California last weekend.

Whitehead opened the week competing in the Mt. SAC Relays running the steeplechase in the Olympic Development Elite Race on Thursday.  She posted a time of 10:36.74 placing 16th.  She returned to action on Saturday competing in the 1500m at the Cerritos College Beach Invite.  Whitehead won the race with a school record time of 4:24.60.  That time is the fastest in the OVC this season.
