Track Set For NCAA Last Chance Meets

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field athletes will hit the road this weekend competing at the NCAA Last Chance meets hosted by Arkansas and Notre Dame. The EIU men are coming off their fifth straight OVC indoor championship while the women had a streak of four straight championships snapped last weekend.
Four athletes will travel to compete on Friday at Arkansas. Jade Riebold will compete in the women's pole vault. She set the OVC indoor record for the pole vault last week clearing 14' which ranks seventh in the nation. Mick Viken will also compete in the men's pole vault after winning the event last week. Viken ranks 19th in the NCAA this season.
Jalisa Paramore and Dominique Hall will compete in the women's and men's 60m hurdles at Arkansas. Paramore was second in the 60m hurdles last week and currently ranks 79th in the nation. Hall won the men's 60m hurdles at the OVC meet. He enters the weekend ranked 88th in the event.
Four athletes will travel to compete on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at Notre Dame. Pablo Ramirez will compete in the men's 5K on Friday evening. The junior won the event at the OVC meet.
On Saturday Bryce Basting and Sean Wiggan will compete in the Alex Wilson 800m run whileBritney Whitehead will run in the women's 800m run. Basting is currently 47th in the 800m nationally while Wiggan ranks 86th. Whitehead did not run the 800m at the OVC meet but instead won the 5K, placed second in the mile and third in the 3K.
