Track Heads To Indiana Relays Friday & Saturday

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois indoor track and field hits the road this weekend to compete in the Indiana Relays on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers are coming off an impressive performance at the EIU John Craft Invite where they posted 18 first place finishes.
Mick Viken was named the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after winning the pole vault. He passed his own school record posting a mark of 17'8.50” which ranks 6th in the NCAA this season.
Cody Boarman was named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week after posting three first place finishes. Boarman won the 200m and 400m dash while running the opening leg on the 4x400 relay first place squad.
Jared Diaz is coming off a strong performance in the weight throw. Diaz placed third at the John Craft Invite with a distance of 55'6.50” which ranks 9th on the EIU career list.
On the women's side Jade Riebold enters the meet ranked 13th in the NCAA in the pole vault having posted a season opening mark of 13'4.50” at the EIU Early Bird.
Erika Ramos is currently ranked 19th in the 800m after winning that event at the John Craft Invite with a time of 2:12.13.
Britney Whitehead, Maura Cummins, Annemarie Reid and Kirstie Wieber all posted EIU career top ten marks at the John Craft Invite. Whitehead won the mile run with a time of 5:03.27 which ranks 8th on the career list. Cummins cleared 5'7” in the high jump to finish second with her height ranking 8th on the EIU's career list. Reid and Wieber moved into 5th and 6th on the EIU career list in the pole vault. Reid had a pole vault of 11'7.75” while Wieber cleared 11'1.75”.
