Boarman, Viken Win OVC Weekly Track Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois men's track and field athletes Cody Boarman and Mick Viken were named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Track & Field Athletes of the Week following their performances at the EIU John Craft Invite on Saturday.
Boarman posted three first place finishes at the John Craft Invite with two individual victories and one on the 4x400 relay. He won the 200m time with a 22.49 while posting a 49.38 first place time in the 400m. Boarman then ran the opening leg on the 4x400 relay that won with a time of 3:24.66.
Viken won his second straight OVC Field Athlete of the Week honor as he broke his own school record in winning the pole vault. Viken had a height of 17'8.50” which was 3.5 inches above his previous school record. His pole vault height is currently the sixth best in the NCAA this season.
EIU returns to action this weekend competing in the Indiana Relays.
