Cross Country Set For Illinois Intercollegiate

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois cross country returns to action this Friday evening when the Panthers compete in the Illinois Intercollegiate hosted by Illinois State. Racing begins at 4:15 p.m. and features schools from the NCAA, NAIA and Junior College ranks from the state of Illinois.
The Panther women are coming off a solid finish at the EIU Walt Crawford Open last Friday evening. Olivia Klaus was named the OVC Female Cross Country Runner of the Week after placing fourth in the event with a time of 18:16.61. Britney Whitehead was just behind in fifth place at 18:22.61 and Stephanie Peisker was eighth covering the 5K distance in a time of 18:29.30.
On the men's side junior college transfer Pablo Ramirez led the Panthers with a seventh place finish at the Walt Crawford Open with an 8K time of 25:49.36. That result was good enough to earn him OVC Male Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. Danny Delaney and Bryce Basting finished just outside of the top ten. Delaney was 11th with a time of 26:03.64 while Basting was 12th at 26:06.85.
Following the Illinois Intercollegiate, EIU will take off until Saturday, Sept. 29 when they will run in the Louisville Cross Country Classic.
