EIU Track / Turf Program Making Progress

Eastern Illinois home football games and track meets will have a different feel this year as new turf and track surfaces are currently being installed at O'Brien Field. The project will be complete in August as the Panther football team hosts Southern Illinois on August 30.
The new football field turf is a Hellas Matrix Turf which is currently used by several collegiate and professional teams including the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor University and the University of Idaho.
A new track surface is also being installed with changes including the steeplechase pit now placed at the north end of the stadium below the video board and a redesigned and upgraded throws area just southwest of the stadium.
