Boey Named OVC Track Athlete Of The Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois senior sprinter Zye Boey was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week following competition at the EIU Big Blue Classic over the weekend.  Boey won the 100m and 200m sprints while also running the third leg on the 4x100 relay team.

Boey's winning time in the 100m was 10.44 while his winning time in the 200m was 20.96.  In the 4x400 100 relay, EIU placed third in the event but their time of 40.44 ranks second all-time on EIU's career list.

The Panthers will take this weekend off before returning to action on April 14 at the WKU Hilltopper Relays.

EIU men's track also opened the outdoor season being ranked No. 10 in the Midwest Region by the USTFCCCA.  Wichita State opened the season as the top team in the region with fellow OVC member SIU Edwardsville being ranked 14th.
