CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and cross country runner Megan Gingerich was named a first team Academic All-District V selection as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Gingerich will now be placed on the national ballot for a chance to earn Capital One Academic All-America honors. Gingerich was a second team Academic All-District selection in 2010.
The redshirt junior from Arthur, Ill., recently concluded her 2011 season at the NCAA West Regional in Eugene, Ore. Gingerich placed 30th in the 800m run finishing with a time of 2:09.08. She currently holds the school record for both the indoor and outdoor 800m runs. Earlier this year she was named one of six Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year as she currently maintains a 3.89 GPA in communication disorders. She was a first team All-OVC selection in the indoor 800m and a second team All-OVC honoree for the outdoor season. In 2010 she was the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Year. During her career Gingerich has earned six first team All-OVC honors in multiple events.
