Romano Posts School Top 5 Finish For Cross Country

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Franky Romano posted the fifth best 8K time in school history on Saturday morning to lead the Panthers men's cross country team to a tenth place finish at the Louisville Cross Country Classic.
The EIU women were led by Grace Rowan as they posted a 13th place team finish on the 5K course.
Romano led four top 100 finishers for the EIU squad as he ran a time of 24:00.6 over the 8K course as he placed 13th in a competitive field that featured 41 teams and 373 runners.
Jaime Marcos was the Panthers second best finisher in 40th place as he posted a time of 24:30.4. Adam Swanson and Tyler Lay then added top 100 finishes for EIU. Swanson was 69th with a time of 24:49.6 while Lay placed 87th with a time of 24:57.9.
David Thompson was the fifth EIU runner to cross the finish line in 125th place with a time of 25:11.8. Andrew Pilat and Joe Carter rounded out the EIU scored runners. Pilat was 139th with a time of 25:18.2. Carter was 183rd with a time of 25:38.0.
Rowan would lead the EIU women's team that had three top 100 finishers. The senior was 29th with a time of 17:41.2 as the women's race featured 39 teams with 342 runners.
Avani Flanagan and Shelby Siltman also crossed in the top 100 for the Panthers. Flanagan was 49th with a time of 17:57.4. Siltman was 61st with a time of 18:06.4.
Maggie McPherson and Megan Adams were the fourth and fifth place runners for EIU. McPherson was 132nd with a time of 18:40.6 while Adams was 143rd with a time of 18:43.6.
Abby Fisher and Jocelyne Mendoza rounded out the scorer runners for EIU with Fisher placing 201st and Mendoza right behind in 202nd. A third EIU runner, Sarah Carr, crossed in 203rd racing Fisher and Mendoza to the line. Fisher's time was 19:07.8; Mendoza's time was 19:08.3 while Carr had a time of 19:08.5.
