MCINERNEY WINS STEEPLECHASE AT DRAKE RELAYS
Friday, April 27 2018 - Drake Relays 2018DES MOINES, Iowa – Eastern Illinois opened the first night of the Drake Relays with a win and a top ten performance as the Panthers had three athletes in action.
Riley McInerney took the lead in the men's steeplechase on the opening lap and the redshirt senior never looked back as he won the event with a time of 8:55.18. The time ranks 24th in the NCAA West Region this season.
Maria Baldwin and Shelby Siltman were in action in the women's 5,000 meter run. Baldwin placed ninth with a time of 17:20.10. Siltman was 17th with a time of 17:38.65.
The Panthers will have athletes in action the next two days at Drake with Chrisford Stevens and Joe Smith set to compete in the men's long jump and triple jump. Ryan Pearce is scheduled to compete in the men's discus. On the women's side Pedra Hicks will compete in the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. Senior Brion Portis will compete in the women's long jump and triple jump.
