ISU Pacesetter Invite Results

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Eastern Illinois track and field placed second in both the men's and women's competition as the Panthers sent a split squad this weekend to the Indiana State Pacesetter Invite.  EIU sent an additional group of athletes to the Mt. SAC Relays most of which competed on Friday.
 
At the ISU Pacesetter, the Panthers posted four first place finishes and 15 total medal performances during the two day meet.   Four of the medal performances were multiple top three finishes by EIU athletes.
 
In women's hurdles Pedra Hicks continued her strong spring season as she won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.34.  It was Hicks fourth win this season in the event.  Hicks was third in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.39.
 
Joe Smith was a multiple event medalist in sand jumps for the Panther men.  Smith won the triple jump with a mark of 49'1.75" which just missed landing in the EIU career top ten by .75".  Smith would come back and place second in the men's long jump with a mark of 22'4.50".
 
Grace Rowan had the final EIU win at the ISU Pacesetter as she won the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:39.90.  Kate Bushue was third in the event as she had two top three finishes on the weekend.  Bushue was second in the 5,000 meter run on Friday evening.
 
Cedric Johnson posted a pair of top three finishes in men's hurdles.  Johnson was third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.17.  He was third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.36.
 
Maggie McPherson rounded out the top three EIU women's competitors on Saturday with a second place finish in the steeplechase.  Her time was 11:25.95, just shy of the EIU career top ten.
 
Tadiwa Mhonde was third in the men's 100 meter dash as he rounded out the EIU men's competitors with top three finishes on Saturday.  His 100 meter time was 11.01.
 
EIU had five medal performances on Friday evening including a win in the javelin by MaKenna Wilson.
 
Ryan Pearce was the final EIU athlete set to compete on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays in the men's discus.
