Cross Country Releases 2016 Schedule

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois cross country coach Erin Howarth has released the Panthers 2016 schedule which will begin on Sept. 2 with the Panthers hosting their annual EIU Walt Crawford Open on the Dr. Tom Woodall Panther Trail in Charleston.
EIU placed second in the Ohio Valley Conference last season in both the men's and women's championship. The EIU men return two All-Conference runners in Riley McInerny and Paxson Menard. The Panther women have All-OVC finishers Maria Baldwin and Ivy Handley set to return.
The season opening meet will begin at 4:45 with the women's 5K race followed by the men's 8K event at 5:30 pm.
EIU then hits the road for two meets in September traveling to the Illinois State Invite on Sept. 9 and the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 30.
After one week off to open the month of October, EIU competes in the Bradley "Pink" Classic on Oct. 14 and will have select runners compete at the Illini Open on Oct. 21.
This year's Ohio Valley Conference Championship will be hosted by Belmont University and contested on Oct. 29 at the Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.
The NCAA Midwest Regional will be hosted by Iowa on Nov. 11 at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City.
Indiana State and the city of Terre Haute will once again host the NCAA National Championships set for Nov. 19 at the Gibson Cross Country Course.
