NEW ORLEANS – Following a second place finish behind Eastern Kentucky at this past weekend's Ohio Valley Conference Championships, Eastern Illinois men's cross country ended the regular season ranked 15th in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region poll.  EIU will return to action on Friday, Nov. 13 at the Midwest Regional hosted by Kansas at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence.

EIU remained in the rankings at No. 15 after moving into the poll on Oct. 19 after a strong performance at the Bradley Pink Classic.   At the OVC meet EIU had its top five runners place 21st or higher in the field with Riley McInerney and Paxson Menard earning All-OVC honors.  McInerney charged to fourth place earning first team All-OVC honors.  Menard placed ninth to earn second team accolades.  Tyler Yunk just missed second team honors finishing in 15th.  Joe Calio was 20th and Juan Barajas placed 21st.

Oklahoma State is first in the NCAA Midwest Region followed by Tulsa, Illinois, Oklahoma and Minnesota in the top five.  Iowa State is sixth with Bradley, Kansas, South Dakota State and Bradley in the top ten.  The final five ranked schools are Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois State, Wichita State and Eastern Illinois.

Prior to this season the last time EIU was ranked in the Men's USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll was late in the 2012 season.
