Panther women place fifth, men do not have team score

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Eastern Illinois had a contingent of runners compete on Friday at the Illini Open as the Panthers are set for the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships next weekend in Murray, Ky.

The EIU women placed fifth out of eight teams that entered teams in the event. Bradley was the team champion.

Kristen Paris was the top EIU finisher in 21st with a time of 19:09.42. Julie James was 25th with a time of 19:13.78. Victoria Quarton was 30th with a time of 19:20.44. Kristy Dertz and Grace Rowan rounded out the five EIU scored runners. Dertz was 36th with a time of 19:34.17. Rowan was 40th with a time of 19:50.53.

Caroline Collet and Lea Viano were the sixth and seventh runners for EIU. Collet was 47th with a time of 20:06.74. Viano was 54th with a time of 20:19.56.

On the men's side EIU had three competitors and did not post a team score. Chris Orlow was 25th, Will Giroux was 31st and Brock Ramos was 35th. Due to technical issues, no men's times were recorded.

Britten Petrey of Illinois won the women's race with a time of 17:54.21. Jereme Atchinson won the men's race.
