Cross Country Travels To Bradley Classic

Eastern Illinois cross country returns to action on Friday afternoon as the Panthers compete at the Bradley "Pink" Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria.  The men's 8K race will begin at 3 pm with the women's 6K event set to follow at 3:40 pm

The men's field includes teams from Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Wright State, DePaul, Drake, Illinois State, Iowa, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Valparaiso, SIU Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri, Marquette, Illinois-Chicago, Missouri, Dayton, Creighton, Illinois, Loyola-Chicago, Saint Louis, Chicago State, Kansas State and Oakland.  In addition women's teams from Oregon State, Northern Illinois and Omaha will be in action.

The Panthers last competed on October 2 at the Notre Dame Invitational.  The men turned in their best team performance at the meet since the 1970's.   Riley McInerneyand Paxson Menard both had top ten finishes on the 5-mile course.  McInerney was named the OVC Runner of the Week with a time of 24:40.7 which placed third overall.  Menard was seventh with a time of 24:55.9. 

On the women's side Maria Baldwin turned in a top performance with a seventh place finish in a competitive field at Notre Dame.  Baldwin's 5K time of 17:44.5 was the fifth best in school history.  Ivy Handley posted a top 30 finish while Kristen Rohrer running the unattached race at Notre Dame had a time of 18:32.1

Next week EIU will send a small group of runners to the Illini Classic with the teams set to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Murray State.
