Cross Country Set For Notre Dame Invite

Eastern Illinois cross country returns to action this Friday competing in the Notre Dame Invitational.  EIU will compete in the Gold Division race with the women starting at 3:15 pm (Central) and the men at 4 pm (Central).  The women's race will be contested at the 5K distance while the men will run a 5-mile race.
 
The women's field includes 20 teams with Indiana State currently ranked 14th in the Great Lakes Region.  OVC member Murray State will also be in the field.
 
The men's field also includes 20 teams with Butler (12th) and Milwaukee (15th) both ranked in the Great Lakes Region.  OVC member Murray State will also have a men's team in the race.
 
EIU was last in action on Sept. 11 at the Country Financial Illinois State Invitational.  Junior Riley McInerney earned OVC Male Runner of the Week honors as he placed second in the meet with a personal best time of 24:41.7.   Paxson Menard turned in a top ten performance covering the 8K distance with a time of 24:58.7.  Joe Calio, Tyler Yunk and Greg Rogers rounded out the five scored EIU runners at the ISU meet.  The EIU men were fourth as a team.
 
On the women's side sophomore Maria Baldwin was the Panthers top runner with a 12th place finish at 18:14.6.   EIU placed sixth as a team.  Ivy Handley and Emily Brelsfoard posted top 25 finishes with Rachel Garripo and Amy Yeoman rounding out the scored EIU runners.
