Five Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All Academic

NEW ORLEANS – Five members of the Eastern Illinois men's and women's track teams were named All Academic by the USTFCCCA.  In addition both the EIU men's and women's programs were honored as All-Academic teams. 
 
The Panther men posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.14 while the EIU women posted a cumulative 3.24 GPA. 
 
Jade RieboldChristian Ilunga-MatthiesenEric GordonPablo Ramirez and Mick Viken were honored as All-Academic selections for the 2013-14 school year. 
 
Riebold currently has a 3.38 GPA majoring in recreation administration. 
 
Ilunga-Matthiesen has a 3.95 GPA majoring in economics.
 
Gordon has a 3.36 GPA majoring in kinesiology.
 
Ramirez has a 3.26 GPA majoring in graphic design.
 
Viken has a 3.34 GPA majoring in kinesiology.  In addition to USTFCCCA All Academic honors, Viken was also named a second team Academic All-American by CoSIDA. 
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds). 
A total of 496 men and 797 women representing 197 NCAA Division I institutions were honored this year.
