OVC Indoor Track Championships Day One

NASHVILLE – Eastern Illinois track and field opened the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships on Friday. The Panther men are in second place after day one while the EIU women sit in third place.
The Panthers had three first place finishes on Friday with two more top three finishes.
The women's distance medley relay won with a time of 12:03.22. The DMR squad consisted of Kristen Paris, Amina Jackson, Dhiaa Dean and Kristen Rohrer.
Freshman Emily Brelsfoard won the women's 5,000m with a time of 17:36.69 while senior Pablo Ramirez won the men's 5,000m with a time of 14:37.58.
The men's DMR placed second at the championships with a time of 10:06.71. The Panthers DMR squad included Matt Black, Danny Trevor, Ryan Ballard and Mike Hesslau.
Kailey James posted a third place finish for the EIU women in the high jump clearing 1.70m.
Southeast Missouri leads the men's championship after day one with 50 points. EIU is second with 38 points.
Southeast Missouri leads the women's championship after day one with 44 points. Tennessee State is second in 43 points followed by EIU with 40 points.
Competition resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Gentry Center.
